Vintage Italian letter opener with intricate micromosaic detail on the handle. The micromosaic is made of tiny colorful glass tiles set in a pattern. The art of micromosaics can be traced back to ancient Roman times, and small micromosaic souvenirs were popular during the Grand Tour period and continue to be collected today.
Stamped “Made in Italy” and also what looks like “Arico NY” which perhaps was the name of the importer.
Condition is very good with all tiles intact and a nice aged patina to the brass. Minor rough spot on back side of handle.
