Grand scale 18th century baroque Tuscan credenza with a wonderfully aged, painted patina. The paint color is an attractive mix of blue-green hues. Behind the two locking doors are two continuous fixed shelves, and the interior is lined with red fabric. The top is hinged so that is lifts up to reveal a red fabric lined storage space. The upper raised compartment is also hinged and lifts up to offer an additional storage space. The upper compartment simply rests on the top and the top is finished underneath the compartment, therefore one could choose not to display the upper piece. Without the upper compartment, the credenza is 48” tall.
This substantial credenza had originally been used in a sacristy in Tuscany to store vestments of the clergy.
