A large late 19th century Italian ex voto of a hand. In the Catholic tradition, an ex voto is offered as either a prayer for healing or protection or offered as thanks for a miracle received. Typically they depict a certain part of the body that needs healing, in this case, a hand.
They are often nailed to the walls of the church. This ex voto has three old nail holes near the wrist. This ex voto is in fair condition with the tip of the pinky missing and a dark patina.
