A beautiful goldtone late 19th century Italian ex voto of a female head. In the Catholic tradition, an ex voto is offered as either a prayer for healing or protection or offered as thanks for a miracle received. Typically they depict a certain part of the body that needs healing, so this one depicting the head relates to healing the mind or headaches.
They are often nailed to the walls of the church. This ex voto has a hanger and also two old nail holes. This ex voto is in very good condition with a rare gold patina.
