Rare and striking 19th century Italian carved wood sconce in the form of a mythological being – half man with goat legs that end in a scrolling acanthus leaf motif. Both the wreath on his head and the leafy skirt feature light gilding. He is holding a large urn that has been fitted with a glass vase allowing for use of the urn for fresh floral. (See faux floral example) The mythological being might have had wings at one time, as there are visible marks on the back shoulders. Easy to hang with newly added hook.
