Beautifully carved and gilded wood 19th century altar card frame or “cantagloria” from Tuscany. Classic acanthus leaf scrolls flank the sides and it is footed which is traditional. Often, mirrors are placed inside of altar card frames to use as home décor, and that could be done with this beautiful frame as well.
Altar cards were placed on the altar only during Mass and they framed the written prayers that the priest would have recited during the Mass.
