Dating from the early 1800s, this three-drawer Italian chest hits all of the desirable neoclassical notes with its original bronze ancient roman faces, ebonized columns and plinth legs. Walnut burlwood “radica” veneer is featured on the entire piece. The ebonized columns with gilded wood trim support the cantilevered top drawer. The original escutcheons are classical wreaths. The straight lines of this piece work well with modern interiors as well as classic old world ones. We envision this piece making a bold statement in an entry but could be used in a bedroom or dining room.
The top shows its age where the wood is sunken down a bit between the structural supports running lengthwise under the top. There is a small crack on the rear left corner of the top causing the edge to lift up slightly. Sides of case have minor cracks. Overall this chest is in very good condition.
