ORIGIN: South Tyrol, Italy
AGE: c. 1950
DIMENSIONS: 2 7/8" wide x 2.25" deep x 4 7/8” h
CONDITION: Very good, some darkening of the paint
This miniature wood sculpture was exquisitely crafted by one of the ANRI workshop’s master carvers in the South Tyrol region of Italy, circa 1950. This design featuring the Madonna of the grapes with child was produced by ANRI in a few different sizes and this one is the smallest size, making this incredibly detailed carved statue even more impressive. A remnant of the original ANRI label is still attached to the base. The condition is very good with no breaks and some darkening of the paint as to be expected with age.
The ANRI wood-carving workshop was founded in 1912 and has been run by five generations of the Riffeser family.
